2010 Event Planned for October

The Chamber has scheduled the 'Dance With Our Stars' event Oct. 29 at Lombardo's in Randolph.

The Chamber has met at Abby Park as the guests of Vance Welch several times in the past few months. The issue of parking has been the focal point of our meetings. We continue to work on the issue. Town Planner William Clark says the state will soon approve a contract for the East Milton Traffic study. In the spring the issue was again parking with discussion centering on a proposal to create 15 minute parking spaces on Adams Street in East Milton.

The June meeting will give members of the business community a chance to meet with leaders from Howard/Stein-Hudson, the Boston consulting firm hired to create plan for the East Milton area.

The meetings continue on the third Wednesday of the month at Abby Park.

Wrapping Up Events

The 2nd annual LifeStyle Event took place March, 2009, at Lombardo's in Randolph. The show created highlighted the many facets of the community.

Of course there was information about the business community. There was also a spotlight on the Fuller Village Chorus and an independent string quartet from Milton High.

Jonathan Hall, Channel 7 Investigative Reporter, and his wife, Karen Marinella Hall, hosted the program. Chamber President Nancy Jesson introduced the couple.

In May at the Chamber meeting members approved plans for the 2010 event. President Nancy Jesson suggested a 'Dance with the Stars' theme.

Holiday Lights

The Holiday Lighting event in East Milton Square was a success despite the rain and the group hopes to continue working with the town on future plans to improve the business districts. The event happened Sunday, Nov. 30 when Santa, Judah Maccabbee and Frosty the Snowman visited the Square. Rep. Walter Timilty flipped the switch for the holiday lights.

The members of the Chamber have been meeting since August at 480 Adams St., East Milton, to talk about the holiday lighting and the lifestyle show.

Parking Issues

Last May and again in March, the members of the Chamber met with Police Chief Richard Wells to talk about parking problems.

All of the business people present were concerned that the lack of convenient parking can harm the local business economy. The chief listened to the concerns and offered some solutions.
